Bridges

Feel Good About Your Smile Again

Add a tooth back to your smile, and you’ve done more than fill a physical gap — you’ve also filled an emotional one. When you’re missing a tooth, you’re self-conscious and embarrassed. We know your dental health is connected to your self-esteem. And that’s why Dr. Harris and our entire staff are committed to creating a smile you’ll want to share.

A bridge is created by making two crowns to fit over your existing teeth on either side of your missing tooth. These crowns anchor the bridge. The replacement teeth are attached to the crowns, so when the crowns are placed, the gap area is filled. In most cases, your existing “anchor” teeth will have to be prepared for the crowns by removing some of the enamel to make space for the crown.

If you’ve already replaced a missing tooth with an implant, don’t worry. Bridges can be attached to dental implants.

Why would I choose a bridge over a partial?
Bridges are not removable — so you don’t have to worry about moving or slipping. If you can’t take them out, you won’t have to worry about misplacing them, either. Especially if you’re missing several teeth, bridges will give you the peace of mind of a constant solution, maintaining the shape of your face and your ability to chew, speak, and smile 24/7. And you’ll be able to brush and floss as you normally would, without adding processes or products to your regular routine. Some people don’t like the idea of caring for a removable partial.

Will bridges look like real teeth?
Yes, we match the color, size, and alignment of the teeth on your bridge to your existing teeth. The idea is the bridge will look as natural as your real teeth.

Can I choose between a partial and a bridge?
We will help you evaluate the best choice for you. Your dental health and your lifestyle will have an impact on which device is best for you.

What about the future?
Bridges serve an important purpose beyond their cosmetic benefits. When you have missing teeth, bridges will prevent your remaining teeth from moving around and changing position. This is important for your future dental health.

We care about your teeth as well as how they make you feel. Let Dr. Harris help you overcome tooth loss and help you feel like smiling again.
